A delegation of four scientists from France’s National Agriculture, Food and Environment Research Institute (INRAE) met in Shimla today.
This delegation has come on a tour of Himachal Pradesh to get information about the progress made in the field of natural farming. Himachal Pradesh is the first state in the country to provide minimum support value for natural farming products. In the state, wheat is being bought at the rate of 40 rupees per kg and corn is 30 rupees per kg. In addition to this, cow milk is being bought at Rs 45 per liter and buffalo milk at Rs 55 per liter.
The snow-development plan is being implemented in the state with a cluster-based approach, aimed at chemical-free production and certification. Under this scheme plans to include about 50,000 farmers and establish 2,600 agricultural groups.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur was also present on this occasion.
