Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s Anti-Chitta Jan Andolan received a renewed call for public participation as DGP Ashok Tewari urged senior officers and employees of SJVN to become active partners in the statewide campaign against drug abuse.

Addressing a gathering at SJVN headquarters, Shimla, today during Vigilance Awareness Week-2026, the DGP conveyed the Chief Minister’s message that the fight against chitta cannot be won by police action alone and requires the collective commitment of families, educational institutions, workplaces and communities.

Highlighting the Chief Minister’s vision behind the Anti-Chitta Jan Andolan, launched from Shimla’s historic Ridge on November 15, 2025, the DGP emphasised that the campaign seeks to transform the fight against drugs from a government initiative into a sustained public movement.

He appealed to SJVN employees to become ambassadors of drug awareness, particularly among young people, and encourage their families and communities to actively participate in the campaign. He also urged support for those struggling with addiction and appealed to share information about drug trafficking with the police.

A short awareness video, highlighting the Chief Minister’s Anti-Chitta Jan Andolan, was screened during the programme.

The DGP also highlighted the remarkable improvement in HP Police’s ERSS-112, which has risen from 34th position nationally in November, 2025 to first position. He encouraged employees to spread awareness about emergency helpline 112 and its Track Me safety facility.

Earlier, speaking on the Vigilance Awareness Week theme ‘Probity for Prosperity’, Ashok Tewari stressed upon preventive vigilance, transparent decision-making and ethical leadership. He emphasised that honest officers must be encouraged to take timely decisions without fear of unwarranted scrutiny.

The programme reinforced Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s message that a drug-free Himachal Pradesh can be achieved only when every citizen becomes an active participant in the Anti-Chitta Jan Andolan.
