Rs. 35.34 crore released to strengthen technical institutions: Rajesh Dharmani

Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani today said that Himachal Pradesh is making steady progress in the field of technical education. He said that the state government is strengthening basic infrastructure and taking steps to equip young people with the skills needed to become job creators.

He said that polytechnics, engineering colleges and ITIs across the state are being upgraded with modern facilities to provide students with better opportunities for learning, innovation and skill development. As part of this initiative, the state government has released Rs. 35.34 crore for various technical institutions across Himachal Pradesh.

Sh. Dharmani said that in Kangra district, Rs. 3 crore has been released for ITI Baijnath, Rs. 1.75 crore for Adarsh ITI Sansarpur-Terrace, Rs. 2.29 crore for government accommodation at Government Pharmacy College, Kangra, Rs. 3 crore for Academic Block-B at Government Polytechnic Kangra and Rs. 3.50 crore for a state-of-the-art ITI building at Baldhar, Nagrota Bagwan. In Sirmaur district, Rs. 3.71 crore has been released for ITI Sarahan, Rs. 5.83 crore for ITI Kafota and Rs. 3.42 crore for ITI Kaulawala Bhood.

Similarly, Rs. 3.58 crore has been released for the boys’ hostel at Government Polytechnic Kullu, Rs. 3.26 crore for ITI Bhadrakali in Una district, and Rs. 2 crore for the ITI building at Karsog in Mandi district, he added.

Rajesh Dharmani said that the state government is promoting youth-led development and focusing on improving the skills of students through quality vocational education. Students are being introduced to modern academic courses and trained to meet the challenges of the future.

He said that efforts are also being made to create a strong start-up ecosystem and develop students’ soft skills along with their technical knowledge. Keeping in view the rapidly changing information technology landscape, students are also being provided exposure through educational visits. Young people from various technical institutions in the state have been taken on educational visits to Kazakhstan and Japan.

The Minister said that these initiatives are aimed at creating better learning opportunities for students and preparing the youth of Himachal Pradesh for emerging opportunities in the technical and vocational sectors.
